Owners of White Avenue home agree to UT sale

The owners of a Victorian home on White Avenue have agreed to sell it to the University of Tennessee.

According to a committee agenda for the State Building Commission, the owners of 1302 White Avenue have agreed to sell the property for $1.1 million, or 4.8 percent above the appraised value.

The property will be used to assemble land for a new classroom/lab building. The university’s effort to acquire that property and others on White Avenue has drawn complaints from preservationists, and the home at 1302 White Avenue was included on Knox Heritage’s Fragile 15 list last year.
